Co-location centre is a place more like a data centre where the backup data is usually stored and used when needed. The co-location centres not only require physical security to guard the place but also require other protections from natural disasters. Fire protection one of the unavoidable protection taken in colocation centres. Smoke detectors are usually placed to give an initial warning on fire in co location centres. Smoke detectors are just early warning but sooner more steps should be taken to protect the data stored in co location centres. Fire extinguishers are usually used after the detection of smoke. Most of the co location centres also have water sprinklers to avoid spreading of fire. Clean agent fire suppression system is installed to avoid fire spreading. Most of the co location centres are air conditioned to control the temperature and humidity in the centres. Usually the temperature is maintained at twenty to twenty five degrees. Humidity can range from forty to sixty percent. Most of the equipments used on colocation hosting centres have a minimal temperature to be maintained, air conditioning helps in this as well. Windows are usually avoided in colocation hosting centres. Though co location centres are for storing data backup we need to take care to protect the place.
