Haribo - the world-renowned confectionery brand, was founded by Hans Riegel Sr. in the year 1920 in Bonn, in Germany. The word is an acronym for Hans Riegel, Bonn. Haribo’s Germanized advertising catch line is “Haribo macht Kinder froh / und Erwachsene ebenso”, which means to say “Haribo makes children happy / and adults too”. And since 1991, the voice of Thomas Gottschalk has come to be associated with the brand in all of its advertising campaigns.
