I am really looking forward to next week. My Mother has offered to baby sit and give me the chance to go shopping on my own. It is tricky shopping with the children as they get bored easily and tired and they do not like shopping for clothes. I am going to a christening soon and am looking for something nice to wear to it. I have been looking on line at formal dresses but have not yet managed to find the right thing. I am hoping that the designer shops in her town might have a bit more for me to choose from. I will of course also need to look at women’s shoes and get a bag and maybe a jacket to match as well. I am a bit concerned that I may be dressing too formally as I have never been to a Christening on that side of the family before and was told that a pretty dress that I was originally going to wear was too formal. However, I want to look nice and as if I have made an an effort. Once I have got my outfit I am hoping to have time to look at the teen clothing as they have a good range of shops and I need to buy a birthday present for my teenage niece.

We have a lovely toy shop in town which is like a wonderland for my husband and boys. I think that they would spend a whole day in there if they could. My son has his eye on a gas RC car and spends almost all of his time in the shop looking at it and asking how much it is. He is trying to save up for it but it is dear and I am hoping that we will be able to afford to give it to him for his birthday. My younger son likes the model train supplies because he thinks that all of the miniature things are really cute. I think they are too and I can see the attraction but because they have no train set then he does not buy them. My husband is the worst - he keeps looking at everything - one week it is the estes rockets that he has he eye on and the next week it is a Wallace and Gromit car! It does amuse me that all men in the shop seem to regress to children and are almost begging their wives to let them buy things! I think it is a good job I confiscate his wallet before he goes in!!

I just went to visit some gardens and they were really lovely and inspiring. Obviously I could not do anything to the standard of a stately home garden but it is nice to come back with ideas that you can apply to your own small garden at home. The first thing that I really liked, were the raised gardens. I think that it is nice to be able to see the flowers on a higher level, so that you can really appreciate them and also smell them better. It is nice to have a bench near them so that they are eye level when you are resting in the garden. Another thing that I really liked was the landscape borders but probably something, that I would not have the time to copy because I do not have a lot of time for weeding. I also have the children’s sandboxes to accommodate somewhere in the garden and would not have room for borders as well. We do not have much space in the garden and so I need to leave some room for the children to play as well and so I think that I will leave the lawn as it is and that should give them ample room to ride their bikes and run around as well as play football.
